followed by a private funeral, before the late president’s body returns to
Georgia, where a private service will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church in
Plains. The procession will then travel to Carter’s home for a private burial
ceremony attended by the family.
Prior to the burial, the
U.S. Navy will fly a formation of aircraft known as the “Missing Man
Formation,” honoring Carter’s service at the academy and as commander-in-chief
during his presidency.
