President " El-Sisi " in a meeting with Arab journalists

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said President El-Sisi congratulated the Chairman of the Federation of Arab Journalists and members of the General Secretariat on winning the recent elections of the Federation. The President affirmed Egypt's full support for their work and for the important role played by the federation in supporting the press and the Arab reader.
The attendees said they were honored to be received by the President, with the new composition of the General Secretariat of the Federation, expressing their appreciation of Egypt's leading status in the Arab world and its wise and responsible political role at the Arab, regional and international levels. They also valued the remarkable development progress currently taking place at a rapid pace in Egypt.
The meeting witnessed an open discussion with President El-Sisi on ways to enhance the vital role of the Arab press. The President confirmed that the press, in general, and Arab press in particular, are encountering new situations imposed by the widespread use of social media. He confirmed that this necessitates that the press constantly updates its role and maintains a balance between the requirements of competition on the one hand, and the depth and objectivity of the presentation that characterize journalistic work on the other. This shall take place in a manner that contributes to developing serious and effective visions to address the common challenges facing Arab states. This includes in particular achieving peace, stability as well as comprehensive economic and social development. The President stressed that the word is a great responsibility, given its impact on shaping public awareness and the collective mind of the peoples.
The discussion touched on the multiple aspects of and challenges to joint Arab action. It also focused on the unprecedented challenges Arab states have been witnessing over the recent years, which have compromised the nation state itself as an inclusive national entity for the people that provides them with security, livelihoods and lives. The President underscored Egypt's firm position with regard to Arab issues, namely upholding Arab solidarity, consolidating national institutions and rejecting interference in the internal affairs of states, with a persistent commitment to good neighborliness and strengthening the bonds of fraternity among Arab peoples.
The meeting also reviewed developments in the Arab and international arenas. President El-Sisi stressed the importance of collective Arab action in addressing the current crises and in strengthening efforts toward reaching peaceful settlements for them. This aims to achieve the supreme interests of the Arab peoples and preserve their resources, particularly at this critical juncture the world order is witnessing.
